Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer is struck by lighting

MAYER, MN – Today, June 27, at approximately 10 a.m. Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer was struck by lightning. A good Samaritan happened to be present and called 911 right away when they noticed flames coming from an exterior gas line. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and secured the area. The only damage that was sustained was to a small portion of siding and the gas line will need to be replaced, according to a post from the church.

The church is thankful that no one was injured, and for the quick actions taken by the good Samaritan who made the call, and the Mayer Fire Department for their quick and diligent work to make sure that all were kept safe.

The church building is now safe to enter. The Visitation today and Funeral tomorrow, as well as all of the services this weekend, will remain scheduled as planned.
