Wright County agrees to negotiate with Trailblazer for transportation service


WRIGHT COUNTY, MN – Wright County Board approved moving forward with negotiations with Trailblazer Transit to provide transportation service in the county during Tuesday’s meeting, but, based on discussion during the meeting, the path to a joint powers agreement may not be a smooth one.

Trailblazer asked for agreement on primary points, including funding formula and representation on the board, by Wednesday, April 9.

Commissioner Pat Sawatzke said he was baffled by Trailblazer asking the county to agree on the funding before it has determined what services it needs.

“If you think we can negotiate a joint powers agreement in one meeting, you are sadly mistaken,” Sawatzke told a representative from trailblazer.
