ZIMMERMAN — Everybody predicted the new co-op that is Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield (DCL) would be strong, as each school, historically, fielded strong wrestling teams on their own before the unification. Everybody was proven correct Feb. 14, when DCL won the Section 6AA team championship at Zimmerman High School.

The Valentines Day 35-22 win over top-seeded Becker was ever so sweet, as it put DCL in the Class AA State Tournament.

“When you have a team-first, rather than a me-first, attitude you will go places,” said DCL coach Bryan Clemen.

The place DCL is going Thursday, Feb. 27, is the Xcel Energy Center, the home of the state tournament.

The Class AA team quarterfinals are at 11 a.m. The Chargers are the No. 4 seed. They open against No. 5 Detroit Lakes, the Section 8 champion. The semifinals are at 1 p.m., and the championship dual is at 7 p.m.
