Winsted teen struck in Mankato

A Winsted teenager was seriously injured in a pedestrian-car accident Friday in Mankato. According to the State Patrol, Ben Daigle, 19, of Winsted was running across Monks Avenue with a group of others in Mankato when he was struck by a vehicle Friday at 10:30 p.m, according to the State Patrol.  The vehicle was a 1999 Toyota PC going southbound and being driven by Charles Parsons, 57, of Mankato. The pedestrians were listed as crossing the street from east to west.
Parsons was not injured, but his passenger, Heidi P. Parsons, 15, of Mankato received minor injuries. In the accident report, the location is listed as Monks Avenue and Woodhaven Circle in Mankato.
Daigle was listed as being in critical condition over the weekend, but this was upgraded to serious condition Sunday. After the accident, he was first brought to a hospital in Mankato, and then transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center. Daigle is attending the University of Minnesota-Mankato as a student. He is the son of Gary and Joan Daigle, and a 2008 graduate of Holy Trinity.
