The Winsted Police Department will be hosting its fifth annual National Night Out (NNO) Thursday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m.
This year the event will take place at Barrett Park, located at the corner of First Street and Sherman Avenue.
In the event of rain, the alternate location will be the Winsted Fire Hall, at 431 6th Street South.
Last year’s Winsted NNO was a great success with large numbers attending the event at Westgate Terrace.
This year’s event should be just as much fun. Food and refreshments will be provided.
WINSTED, MN – The evening is sponsored by the Winsted Police Department, Winsted Fire Department, Ridgeview Ambulance, McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Winsted Floral and Gifts, and the National Guard.
Everyone is welcome to take part in the City of Winsted’s National Night Out activities and to help promote police and citizen partnerships for a safe community.
Each neighborhood is encouraged to schedule its own individual block party.
Contact the Winsted Police Department with any questions at (320) 485-2600.
NNO takes place across the nation
NNO is a nationwide event in its 26th year. Last year more than 37 million people participated in NNO across the country in more than 15,000 communities from all 50 states, US territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
According to the NNO web site, the program is designed to:
• heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs;
• strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnership; and
• send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and aware.
