WINSTED, MN – Katie Thompson, a Holy Trinity 2002 graduate, took part in the Tampa Bay Gasparilla Marathon Feb. 28, finishing overall 158th out of 2,090 runners.

Thompson improved her time by four minutes from her run in the Boston Marathon last April. She even cut her time while recovering from a stress fracture in her foot, which she became aware of after running a Chicago marathon in October.

Much of her preparation was done in cross training, which included biking, swimming, weight lifting and a lot less running.

Her time was three hours, 26 minutes and 47 seconds. For her age division, 25 to 29, there were a total of 126 runners, of which Thompson placed fourth. Of a total of 854 women who participated in the marathon, Thompson placed 17th.
