Waverly’s Doug Ault loved family, friends, animals, and his fire department

WAVERLY – Waverly, by all accounts, lost an admirable man last week.
Doug Ault, 57, died March 24, following complications from a massive stroke.
Current Waverly Fire Chief Ben Duske said Ault joined the fire department in March 1994.
Ault served as the independent department’s secretary and treasurer for 13 years, was an assistant chief for four years, and was Chief 2 at the time of his death.
Duske said the main thing he will remember about Ault was his vast knowledge of many different areas. Duske remembered Ault was always able to get a downed fire truck back in service.
“He was a good guy,” Duske said, “and he always had a smart ass comment.”
