Waverly, Mayer, and Lester Prairie residents hurt in Highway 7 crashes


McLEOD, CARVER COUNTIES, MN – Two separate crashes were reported on Highway 7 recently, one near Mayer, and one near Lester Prairie.

The first occurred Nov. 25 at about 10:43 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Lillian Dammann, 83, of Lester Prairie was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus north on Babcock Avenue when her vehicle collided with Darlene Hemond, 80, of Spicer, who was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion east on Highway 7.

Dammann was transported to Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia with non-life threatening injuries, the state patrol reported. No injuries were reported for Hemond. Both women were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The Lester Prairie Fire Department, the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, and Ridgeview Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The second crash on Highway 7 occurred Wednesday at 5:32 p.m.

The state patrol reported that Paul Wren, 83, of Mayer, was driving a 1999 Chevy Silverado north on Carver County Road 123 when his vehicle was struck by a 2008 Toyota Prius heading west on Highway 7.

Wren was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Toyota Prius, Timothy LePage, 53, of Waverly, was transported to Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia with non-life threatening injuries.

According to the state patrol, LePage was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, and Wren was not.
