VOLLEYBALL: Rockets, Chargers get the best of Tigers

DELANO ­— Delano ran into a good Rockford team Tuesday night in front of the home crowd at the Tiger Activity Center.

The visiting Rockets took the match 3-0.

The set scores were 25-19, 26-24 and 25-15.

Delano was strong at the service line, finishing with 11 aces.

Katie Halonen and Ellie Smith both served three aces. Olivia Jaunich and Taylor Michael both aced two serves, and Brooke Swenson finished with one.

Swenson led Delano with six kills. Mackenzie Drew finished with five.

Jaunich and libero Kamryn Ahlstrom dug out seven ball each for the Tigers.

Jaunich had 11 assists from her setter position.

Dassel-Cokato 3 Delano 0

COKATO — Five days before falling 3-0 to Rockford at home, Delano fell by the same score at Dassel-Cokato.

The host Chargers won the three sets at the Sept. 5 match 25-21, 25-16 and 25-23.

Kamryn Ahlstrom was super busy in the back row for the visiting Chargers. She finished the three sets with 23 digs. Ahlstrom was also the target of Dassel-Cokato’s service game. She received 30 serves.

Ahlstrom’s work benefitted setter Olivia Jaunich, who finished with 25 assists.

Ellie Smith led Delano’s attack with eight kills.

The losses to Rockford and Dassel-Cokato dropped Delano to 3-6.

The Tigers will look to end a four-match losing streak Saturday at the Farmington Tournament.
