Used book donations sought in Howard Lake

Cheri Luhman’s Hometown Happenings
St. James Lutheran School will have a used book sale as a fundraiser that will coincide with their PTL dinner Sunday, April 18.
They are accepting book donations from any families within the church, school, or community.
Here is a guideline of the type of books they can accept:
• books in good to excellent condition;
• hard or soft-cover books;
• books such as sports, children’s, cookbooks, adult, Christian, etc. . .
• No magazines (including no National Geographic).
• No encyclopedias or reference books older than 2000.
Donated books can be dropped off at the school or church offices.
Special 70th birthday
I once heard it said, Adam and Eve were the happiest and the luckiest couple in the world, because neither of them had a mother-in-law.
While some find mother-in-law jokes incredibly funny, and some might even agree they are quite true, I would have to disagree. (Especially since my mother-in-law reads my column.)
Jokes aside, it has been my pleasure for over 20 years to have a wonderful mother-in-law, and this week we celebrate her 70th birthday Tuesday, March 23.

Per my conversation with Curt this past week, he said he will sign the contract for at least one more year. My guess is Mary has an ‘until death do us part’ clause for him in there somewhere. So, here’s wishing them another 47 or more!
Howard Lake Royalty
The Howard Lake royalty program is looking for junior and senior girls to be candidates at this year’s Good Neighbor Days celebration.

Don Baumann Memorial
Don Baumann, age 71, passed away at Parkview Nursing Home in Buffalo earlier this month.
He was a member of St Mary’s Church in Waverly and a counselor at HLWW Public Schools for 30 years.
A memorial Mass is planned at St Mary’s Church, Waverly Thursday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m. Parents and former students are invited. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following Mass.
