STEWART, MN – The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two-vehicle accident that took place on Highway 212, west of Winona Street, in Stewart. On Aug. 22, a 2008 Ford Taurus, owned and driven by Dennis Ervin Zobel, 55, of Forestberg, SD, received more than $1,000 in damage when it was rear-ended by a 2007 Ford pickup, owned and driven by Clint Steven Olson of Olivia. Zobel’s vehicle stopped abruptly in the middle of the road to allow the vehicle in front of it to pull into a sweet corn stand on the north side of the road. Olson did not have time to stop, either, and also received more than $1,000 in damage. No injuries were reported, and both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Why are some accidents covered and others not? There was a pretty serious rear-end accident in front of the Casey’s General Store in Winsted last week (August 19 or 20) around the noon hour, but I didn’t see anything in the paper or the news blog. There were injuries involved.
