Three dead in Watertown Township house fire


CARVER COUNTY, MN – Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson reported that at 2:21 a.m. Sept. 17, sheriff’s deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call of a house fire on the 11000 block of Carver County Road 20 in Watertown Township. Sheriff’s deputies and Watertown Fire and Rescue arrived on scene to a fully involved house fire. Watertown Fire and Rescue, with the assistance of surrounding fire departments, extinguished the fire. Firefighters found two victims inside the residence: both were deceased. They found a third victim outside of the residence who had suffered significant injuries. The burn victim was in critical condition and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. The names of all three victims are being withheld until next of kin have been notified. Watertown Fire, Victoria Fire, Mayer Fire, New Germany Fire, Waconia Fire, Delano Fire, Maple Plain Fire, Montrose Fire, St. Bonifacious Fire, Ridgeview Ambulance, Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Midwest Medical Examiner Office assisted on-scene. The Carver County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating this incident.

UPDATE (9-20-16):

The third victim, an adult female, died at about 2:35 p.m. on September 17, 2016, from

injuries sustained in the fire.

The two deceased victims have been described as a female toddler and a pre-adolescent male.

The names of the three decedents are not being released because they have not yet been

positively identified.
