Three-vehicle accident in Winsted undergoing investigation

WINSTED – Failure of one driver to stop at a stop sign was the probable cause of a three-vehicle accident in Winsted yesterday, according to Winsted police officer Jim Lammers.  The crash took place at the intersection of McLeod County Road 1 and Main Avenue, around noon.

The people involved in the crash were Douglas Thaemert, Montrose, driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty; Christopher Schenhiet, Dassel, driving a 2007 Ford 500; and Patrick Schommer, Winsted, driving a county-owned John Deere tractor, according to Lammers.

The Winsted Police and Fire Departments, McLeod County Sheriff, and Ridgeview Ambulance responded to the accident scene.

Lammers reported there were minor injuries as a result of the accident, and the case is currently undergoing investigation.
