LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – A Blackhawk helicopter be arriving at Lester Prairie’s National Night Out event earlier than expected, according to Lester Prairie Police Officer Preston Voigt. The festivities were originally scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m. at City Park, Second Avenue South, but Voigt said today that the helicopter will arrive at 6:15 p.m. Residents are asked to arrive at 6 p.m. in preparation for the helicopter’s arrival.

McKenna Kutz, 6, of Winsted, found the golden egg, and will receive a $50 Series EE savings bond from First Community Bank of Lester Prairie.

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – There will be a free H1N1 Clinic at the Lester Prairie School Media Center on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm. This clinic is open to anyone in the community. Immunizations will be available to anyone over 6 months of age. Children 6 month – 9 years need a booster dose.

Free cross country skiing at Baylor and Minnewashta parks Jan. 23

CARVER COUNTY, MN – Anyone who is interested in trying croxx-country skiing will have an opportunity Saturday,Jan. 23 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Visitors will be able to use cross-country ski equipment for no cost at Baylor and Lake Minnewashta Regional Parks. Vehicles entering the park are required to have either a $5 daily parking permit or $22 annual park pass which can be purchased at the rental offices at each park.

Both parks offer several miles of groomed ski trails through the woodlands and prairie areas of the parks. Ski trails at Baylor are groomed with a double track for traditional skiing, and trails at Lake Minnewashta are groomed with a single track for traditional skiing, along with an area for skate skiing.

At other times, rental ski equipment is available for rental on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at both park areas. Groups (10 or more) interested in renting equipment during the week at Baylor Regional Park should contact the park office to schedule a time.
