Stupid criminals in Minnesota

Yes, we have our fair share of stupid criminals around these parts. For example, a 58-year-old Chisolm man was going through court for assault recently in St. Louis County when he decided to beat up his lawyer in front of the judge and courtroom, according to the Pioneer Press. He asked for a new attorney, and the judge refused because he already beat up the one he had (headlock, punches in fact and blood all over — yes, he beat him up).  “The Minnesota Court of Appeals on Tuesday agreed with Florey’s decision, writing in a published opinion that a defendant gives up his right to a court-appointed lawyer when he beats up the one he has,” reported the Pioneer Press. He ended up representing himself. I don’t know what the decision was in the court case. To read full story, click here.

Don’t feel left out in the area — we have our share of silliness, too. Remember the heroin bust in Lester Prairie recently, with a New Germany man? My advice is that if you want to lie to a cop by telling her that your driver’s license got sent in to replace your social security card, and that’s why you don’t have your license on you, that you don’t carry your social security card with you, too. It prompts questions. To read full story, click here.
