Where is all the football coverage?

Many of you may be wondering where the heck is the high school football coverage in this week’s Herald Journal?
Unfortunately, due to the Labor Day holiday, our press deadline was moved up to Thursday at 10 p.m.
Because of that, there was no opportunity to get any information in about the Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity game against Mankato Loyola Friday.
As for the Lakers, there was time to get a few photos and the score in, but no time for a complete game story.
Check next week’s Herald Journal for complete coverage of the Lakers’ and Bulldogs’ opening games.

Kirch leaves W-M for Osseo
After four years as Athletic Director and assistant principal at Watertown-Mayer High School, Ray Kirsch has resigned to accept a position as the Activities Director at Osseo Senior High School.

According to Karsten Anderson, Superintendent of Watertown-Mayer Public Schools, the Personnel Committee of the School Board will be meeting in the next couple of weeks to address the vacancy caused by Kirch’s resignation.

W-M Royals alumni golf tourney Sept. 14
The Watertown-Mayer Royals Alumni golf tournament is set for Sunday, Sept. 14 at ShadowBrooke Golf Course.
The tournament is a fundraiser for the Watertown-Mayer boys’ basketball program and the Aaron Kelzer Scholarship Fund.
The tournament is open to anyone, but the committee is attempting to get the word out to former Watertown-Mayer alumni, teachers, and businessmen early, so they have first chance.
The meal will be furnished by the Luce Line Lodge of Watertown, one of the co-sponsors of the tourney.
The tourney format is a best shot scramble with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
