What should I blog about?

Hello all my readers. How many of you are there? Well, I’m not sure, but by the few responses I’ve been getting, I’m guessing not too many. With that said, I would like to ask this question to everyone that either reads this blog on a regular basis, or even if you just happen to stumble across it. My question is this – what would you like me to blog about? Please, keep it clean and sports related, and I’ll blog on every topic that gets put here.

The beauty of “blogging” is that it can be about absolutely anything. You can’t ask us “nit-wits” what you should write about. And NOBODY wants to read about Schlagel pulling a “hammie” while trying to leg out a double. It’s gotta be creative, witty and slightly edgy (I say “slightly” since this is a family show). If it doesn’t have a slight edge to it, people won’t get worked up enough about your posts to take the time to post a response. You can’t take a “middle of the road” approach to your topics; nobody cares about boring! Think about your “Bob Henning English days! Dig deep, Hammer…Dig deep!

As your posts stand now, the only reason I respond is:

    1) I have nothing better to do.
    2) My wife prefers to keep me locked up in my home office and out of her way.
    3) I am an aspiring P/T Journal “blogger/columnist.” Hiring?

Since my job is in the tech industry, and I spend hours upon hours each day on the “interlink/interweb,” I’ve become sort of a pseudo website expert. I know the difference between a “clean, easy find” site, and a “cluttered, can’t find jack” site. All websites have the potential to be great sites; they just need some outside assistance. I personally think that if the “Journal” wants more people to read these blogs, they need to make the “blog link” stand out more on their home page. A simple text link just won’t do it.

You need something flashy; something that really stands out…Since nobody in the Tri-County area knows you by your first name (I went to school with you and I don’t even know it) you need to play off your nickname. I got it…You need a small thumbnail photo/logo (somewhere on the homepage) and call it something like, “Hammer Time!” Your thumbnail photo could be a pic of you, wearing baggy pants (maybe dig up a pair of the old LP Basketball Team’s maroon & gold “Zubaz” from the Wayne Haaz era) posing in some sort of MC Hammer dance move/position! And, you gotta shave some “lines” or “zig-zags” in your hair to make it “real.” Head down to “Moller Manor” and he’ll hook ya up! He’s been cutting my hair for 31 years; 9 out of 10 cuts are good; it’s that 1 “mis-cut” you gotta watch out for!

Lastly, the advertising $$$$. When you click on your photo, the song “Can’t Touch This” needs to start playing. You’d have to work out the “rights thing” with MC Hammer himself, but I think he’s broke, and he may even pay the Journal each time your site gets a “hit.” If your blog corner gets big enough, you may even “eeek out” some advertisement $$$ out of Zubaz.com. Just think, you could become an integral piece into reviving the “Zabaz Nation” days of the late 80’s / early 90’s.

These are just thoughts…If you steal my idea, (it’s a good one, BTW) I want 70%. If you need anymore ideas, ping me…I’m a professional “B.S.er!”

I’ve gotta go…My wife is asking me to come out of the office. Either the car needs gas or we need something from the grocery store!

I’m glad you left this post open for discussion. I’m disturbed about a sports incident that happened today. My husband watched an exciting game between Howard Lake St. James Lutheran School girls basketball and our school at a tournament in Mayer Lutheran High School. St. James won by 2 points, but it was a great game nevertheless. After my husband got home, he got a phone call. Parents and grandparents of a girl on our team yelled at the volunteer coach because she didn’t play their daughter as much as they thought she should have. The coach quit on the spot. She returned the gift certificate the team had given her at the end of the season and the school key. Now my husband will have to find a new volunteer girls basketball coach for next year, and it won’t be easy. The family of the girl claimed the coach played one player the entire game and that the team lost because the players were tired. This was not true. The girl who was the best shooter was taken out for rest in both halfs. All of the girls got to play for at least some of the time except one. The school has a policy that everyone gets to play during regular games fairly equally, but during a tournament, they play to win. The daughter in this family got to play during the game too. It was unfair for the family to make such an issue out of it to the volunteer coach, that it caused the coach to quit. Parents have to realize elementary school basketball is just a game. Parents must control their behavior. After all, they are the adults.

It would appear that your very interested in High School Sports ( a good thing ), maybe you could have a Blog about past High School Athletes, long forgotten, except to those of us that were there..and a witness to greatness… Lets start with the early 70’s… LPHS star Ted Kruschke, what a great athlete he was, the first big man on the court at LPHS, and a 2000 pt scorer, QB of the football team and I believe he went on to play college football on a scholership ( I maybe wrong on that one )…

I have a good blog for you — When that Santana trade first went down I was as mad as any Twins fan. My first reaction was “Carlos who?”
Well, a few months into the season and he is leading the league in stolen bases and hit for the cycle against the Chi-Sox, the first time it has been done since Kirby did it in 1986.
My reaction to the trade now is “GO-GO-GOMEZ!”
But, is he going to be a flash in the pan or a Twins Fan Favorite for years to come? I think his health will play a major role.
