The 16th week of the NFL regular season ended with a disappointing loss for Vikings fans, but for some of our pickers, the weekend’s results did them well.
As I suspected, the 16th week was another tumultuous week that shook up our standings just in time before the final stretch.
The previous leader Rob Neumann, relinquished his grasp on first with a 9-7 record, while Matt Field took his spot back atop the leader board thanks to an excellent 12-4 record. Troy Norman also marked a 12-4 record, which was the best of the week, and now sits just three games behind the leader in third place.
Several games were difficult to pick this week. Norman and Field were the only pickers to correctly predict the Texans beating the Dolphins, which helped lead to their top records this week. Brian Heimerl was the only picker to correctly predict the Jets ending the Colts’ undefeated run, which led to his 11-5 record this week. Three outcomes nobody saw coming, though, were the Bucs defeating the Saints, the Panthers staying hot against the Giants, and of course the Vikings falling to the lowly Bears.
The final week of the NFL is upon us, and by next Monday we will be ready to crown the first ever champion of the NFL pick-a-winner online contest. While Field is on top now, his margin is small, and with in the final week of games, anything can happen. Not only will pickers have to predict who will win the games, but they will also have to try and think like NFL coaches and predict who will be playing their starters, and who will be phoning in the final week to prepare for the playoffs.
Will the Saints finish the season strong, or will they keep their starters on the bench and let the sizzling Panthers end their season on a win. Will the Colts try to end the season on a good note, or let their secondary team take on the Bills in a meaningless game. Who will win between the Eagles and Cowboys in a huge game that will determine the playoff positions of several teams, and will the Vikings snap out of their funk and get back to winning against the Giants? It’s the final week - nothing is certain. Good luck pickers!
