I have a good blog for you — When that Santana trade first went down I was as mad as any Twins fan. My first reaction was "Carlos who?"
Well, a few months into the season and he is leading the league in stolen bases and hit for the cycle against the Chi-Sox, the first time it has been done since Kirby did it in 1986.
My reaction to the trade now is "GO-GO-GOMEZ!"
But, is he going to be a flash in the pan or a Twins Fan Favorite for years to come? I think his health will play a major role.

It would appear that your very interested in High School Sports ( a good thing ), maybe you could have a Blog about past High School Athletes, long forgotten, except to those of us that were there..and a witness to greatness... Lets start with the early 70's... LPHS star Ted Kruschke, what a great athlete he was, the first big man on the court at LPHS, and a 2000 pt scorer, QB of the football team and I believe he went on to play college football on a scholership ( I maybe wrong on that one )...

Well Hammer, since it seems to be just you and I posting on this blog, let's continue our "tradition" of you asking the questions and me posting my usual rambling response :)

I'd have to go with the Boys Basketball Tourney. I really enjoy the hockey tourney, but since we didn't grow up playing hockey out here on the prairie, it plays second fiddle to basketball.

Looking forward to next week's tourney!

Lastly, did you see Blake Hoffarber's shot last night! Wow....

Derek did have an oustanding playoff run, and was great that whole season. His performance during the Lakers state tournament run ranks right up there.

we will see down the road. give them 2-3 years. He wasnt going to be here, the twins were not going to pay him that much. I have no problem with them trading him, yes it sucks but what do you do.

I'm glad you left this post open for discussion. I'm disturbed about a sports incident that happened today. My husband watched an exciting game between Howard Lake St. James Lutheran School girls basketball and our school at a tournament in Mayer Lutheran High School. St. James won by 2 points, but it was a great game nevertheless. After my husband got home, he got a phone call. Parents and grandparents of a girl on our team yelled at the volunteer coach because she didn't play their daughter as much as they thought she should have. The coach quit on the spot. She returned the gift certificate the team had given her at the end of the season and the school key. Now my husband will have to find a new volunteer girls basketball coach for next year, and it won't be easy. The family of the girl claimed the coach played one player the entire game and that the team lost because the players were tired. This was not true. The girl who was the best shooter was taken out for rest in both halfs. All of the girls got to play for at least some of the time except one. The school has a policy that everyone gets to play during regular games fairly equally, but during a tournament, they play to win. The daughter in this family got to play during the game too. It was unfair for the family to make such an issue out of it to the volunteer coach, that it caused the coach to quit. Parents have to realize elementary school basketball is just a game. Parents must control their behavior. After all, they are the adults.
