DELANO — Just under 400 runners participated in the Delano 5K run July 4 during Delano’s annual Fourth of July celebration. Of the 399 registered runners, 111 were from Delano, 10 were from Rockford, nine were from Independence, nine were from Montrose, eight were from Watertown, seven were from Loretto and seven were from Maple Plain.

Individual awards were given to top placers in the running and wheelchair categories.

The all-around winner of the 5K was 18-year-old Ben Kenyon, of Minnetonka. He finished in 15:58. The top female runner was 23-year-old Laura Edlund of Forest Lake. She finished with the time of 18:35.
Next year, the event will also include a family challenge.
