COKATO – The Dassel-Cokato wrestling team hosted a triangular with Wright County Conference rival Litchfield, and non-conference rival Rocori Tuesday night in Cokato.
The first, and most important, match of the night was between the Chargers and Dragons.
This was the second WCC dual for DC (9-1, 2-0 WCC), which has its eyes set on a conference championship.
The Dragons are one of DC’s biggest rivals, and although the wrestled well, the Chargers were too much for them as they cruised to a 47-27 victory.

COKATO – The Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield boys swimming and diving team hosted its second dual meet of the season Tuesday night against Sartell.
The Chargers had some good swims, but the Sabres were too solid of a squad as they ran away with a 109-71 victory, exhibitioning the last two events.
Although the meet wasn’t very close two swimmers did supply some exciting races in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.
Charger senior captain Tim Walker isn’t used to having many swimmers at his level. The state Class A champion in both events usually wins the 50 and 100 easily, but that wasn’t the case with Sartell junior Cameron Hyde.

BENSON – After a two-game losing streak, the Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato boys hockey team got back to its winning ways Tuesday with an 8-1 victory over Morris/Benson Area.
Not only did the Dragons (5-2, 0-1 WCC) break their losing streak, but they also showed some much needed improvement in an area they have struggled with much of the season – power plays.
Up until Tuesday, the Dragons were 1-for-27 on power-play opportunities. On power-play kills, LDC has done well killing 31-of-34.
Against MBA, however, the Dragons did much better as they scored in two out of three power-play chances.

LITCHFIELD – Penalties killed the Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato girls hockey team Tuesday when it hosted River Lakes and lost 9-1.
The Dragons (1-13) committed four penalties, and River Lakes capitalized on three of them with power-play goals. Nobody was a bigger threat than River Lakes’ Jenn Paul who finished the day with four goals, including all three power-play goals.

WACONIA – With each meet the Dassel-Cokato gymnastics team seems to be getting better and better, and their improvements are reflected by their team score which has steadily risen every meet since the first.
The Chargers continued that pace Dec. 18 when they hit the road to take on Wright County Conference rival Waconia.
Although DC (1-3, 0-3 WCC) lost the meet 128.4 to 116.325 against a solid Wildcats team, the Chargers did improve their team score by nearly two points over their previous score. It is also about eight points up from their first meet.

BUFFALO LAKE – The Dassel-Cokato girls basketball team suffered a heart-breaking loss Tuesday night in Buffalo Lake as the Mustangs overcame a double-digit DC lead to top the Chargers 48-46.
The Chargers (4-4, 1-1 WCC) have several chances to win the game, or at least send it into overtime, but couldn’t get the job done.
