It was a record-breaking day Thursday when the Dassel-Cokato wrestling team held its 15th annual DC Turkey Trot.
To start with, DC had over 170 people show up to walk or run at the event.
The overall champion of the Turkey Trot, Charger running extraordinaire Troy Koivisto, also destroyed the time record by finishing the race in 25:22.
Other notable runners were Brett Danielson, the runner-up and returning 2008 champion, who finished in 27:17.
Max Anderson was 3rd overall, and the champion of the current wrestlers with a time of 28:42. The alumni co-champions were Kurt Salmen (2007 graduate) and Vinnie Pokornowski (2003 graduate) who finished in 28:54.
The women’s champion was Rita Halonen with a time of 30:27, and the veteran’s champion was Tom Nelson with a time of 32:05.
DC wrestling coach Bryan Clemen and the whole team would like to thank everyone who ran, walked or help organize the event, and especially those who donated food for the local food shelves.

LITCHFIELD – The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato girls hockey team (0-2) got its season started Tuesday with a home game against Holy Family/Waconia, in Litchfield.
The young squad did a good job of keeping it close for the first two periods, but let the game slip away in the third after three HFW goals, and the Dragons lost 5-1.
Although LDC starts its season with a loss, head coach Brian Johnson was pleased with how things went.
