DC boys’ basketball schedule correction

The Feb. 23 edition of the Enterprise Dispatch mistakenly says that the Dassel-Cokato boys’ basketball team is hosting a game Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., against Kimball. The Chargers will actually play that game in Kimball, not in Cokato.

DC tames Dragons, but falls in semifinals

BIG LAKE, MN – The Section 6AA wrestling playoffs unfolded just as it had been laid out, as the highest seeded team in every dual won, all the way up to the section finals where first-seeded Foley dismantled second-seeded New London-Spicer 44-15, Friday, in Big Lake, to become the Section 6AA champions.
The third-seeded Chargers won their quarterfinal match Tuesday against sixth-seeded Litchfield, 40-24, but hit a wall Thursday when they travelled to Big Lake and lost to NLS in the semifinals, 40-25.

DC gymnasts earn academic award at Section 5A meet

MAPLE LAKE, MN – The Mound-Westonka gymnastics team cleaned house at the Section 5A meet Friday in Maple Lake, and the Dassel-Cokato Chargers finished in eighth place.
Going into the section meet, DC set its goal at breaking the 130-point mark. Unfortunately, the Chargers fell well below that as they finished with 123.5, beating out only Rockford which had a ninth-place score of 119.05.

Two Tiger gymnasts medal at section meet

MAPLE LAKE — The best Section 5A gymnasts claimed their respective spots in this week’s state meet with qualifying finishes Friday night at Maple Lake High School.

The top four gymnasts in each of the four events and the all-around, and the top team all advanced to the state meet Thursday and Friday at the University of Minnesota.

For the seventh consecutive season, Mound-Westonka emerged as the team champion. The White Hawks accumulated 143.625 points, which was easily more than Annandale’s second-place total of 139.025 points. Delano finished third with a season-high 136.80 points.

LDC boys’ hockey receives fifth seed

The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato boys’ hockey team received the fifth seed in the Section 3A playoffs Wednesday.

With that seed, the Dragons get a bye through the first round of play, and will face fourth-seeded Redwood Valley Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m., in Redwood Falls for the quarterfinals.

DC wrestlers top Litchfield in Section 6AA quarterfinals

COKATO, MN – The Dassel-Cokato wrestling team hosted a portion of the first two rounds of the Section 6AA playoffs Tuesday, and after defeating the Litchfield Dragons 40-24 in the quarterfinals, the Chargers move on to the semifinal round.
The top four seeds in Section 6AA hosted a portion of the first and second rounds of the playoffs, and the third-seeded Chargers hosted 11th-seeded Annandale/Maple Lake, and sixth-seeded Litchfield.
The Dragons and Lightning faced in the first round of duals, with Litchfield winning 42-31, and moving on to the quarterfinals against DC, which received a first-round bye.
The Chargers were confident they could beat the Dragons, just as they had Jan. 8 when they won 36-25, and they were right.
Not only did DC win the dual 42-31, but they managed to do it by five more points, thanks largely to bonus points.
