Section 5AA boys basketball results

COKATO, MN – The Section 5AA, South Sub-section boys basketball semifinals were played Saturday night at Dassel-Cokato High School.
In the opening game, the Mayer Lutheran Crusaders cruised past the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers 66-35.
The second game was an overtime thriller between Sibley East and Watertown-Mayer.
Sibley East tied the game near the end of regulation, sending it into overtime. In the overtime, the Royals trailed by one and had a shot to the win game in the final seconds, but the basketball wouldn’t fall.
In the end, Sibley East came away with a 58-57 victory.
Mayer Lutheran and Sibley East will now face off for the third time this year Tuesday, March 16 at Dassel-Cokato at 6 p.m. in the Section 5AA, South Sub-section championship game.
