  1. L Fiecke says:

SD 18 was duped today as Newman was clearly in violation of campaign finance rules, was called on it, and for reasons indiscernible to the author this turned the crowd against the candidate Mr. Mahlstedt who pointed out the truth about Mr. Newman’s actions.

This is most disappointing to see a status quo politician taking the endorsement. We need changes in St. Paul or we will be in the same sinking ship as California. Newman is a skilled politician, but I don’t believe he’s got the best interest of the people in his heart or in his history as a Congressman. He speaks the free market rhetoric, but doesn’t really vote like he understands in my estimation. Mr. Mahlstedt attempted to run a positive campaign and did so over the past few months through today. After Mr. Newman stood up before the assembly and talked about his conservative record, and his experience as a judge, and unique knowledge of the rules of the game, the truth had to be told. This was unfortunately to the determent of a chance for us to alter our current state of affairs by sending a true conservative who understands our issues and has the courage to drive reform in St. Paul.
