Saturday was a good day for area football teams

The Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, and Watertown-Mayer football teams all were in section semifinal football action Saturday afternoon, and all three came away with wins.

In Section 4A, LP/HT dominated Minneapolis North, winning 54-26, and will now face Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Friday, Nov. 1 at Sauk Centre in the section title game.

In Section 4AA, HLWW snuck past St. Agnes 23-20, and will battle Maple Lake Thursday, Oct. 31 at St. Cloud State University in their section championship game.

Lastly, in Section 2AAA, W-M cruised past Rockford 35-14, and will travel to Glencoe-Silver Lake Friday, Nov. 1 to do battle with the Panthers in the section championship game.

All three games are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts, with the winners locking up a trip to the state tournament in their respective classes.
