Sand baggers, donations needed now

Al Nagel of Cokato (Minnesota Disaster Relief) received a call from the sheriff’s department in North Dakota that they need people to fill sand bags, he said (if you are unable to help sandbag, please scroll down to see how to donate for those who can). “And they need them NOW!  Al said.  “It started raining there about a hour ago, predictions are for rain over the next 3 days.  I need to say, this will not be fun work, it will mean working in the rain, filling and moving sand bags all day. Not for the weak at heart.  One the other hand, I have little doubt, for those that choose to go, it will mean possibly saving a families home and all their belongings. Another challenge to this request, they need us NOW. Not very much for advanced notice. The forecasters predict the waters will crest on Thursday at 1:00pm at 40′. So, that gives very little time for this work to get done. He told me that they had a 3 mile stress to bag up to as high as 9 feet. Now to give you a reference point, if you need a wall 9 feet high, on the top you would have one bag, but on the bottom you would need a base 20 feet thick, you do the math, that is a lot of bags.”

Al Nagel goes on to say “I am simply the messenger. If the Lord has been tugging on your heart to help out on this, maybe you have heard about it in the news, I would encourage you to go. We will be feed by the Salvation Army, Sleeping quarters are not determined yet. We will probably do something in a church.

If you cannot go, but maybe can help with expenses, feel free to send money to:

Thank you for considering if you should be involved. If you get this email tonight, we will have a team leaving from Cokato at 5 am  tomorrow (Monday morning). If we get enough calls, we will schedule more times to leave.

Thanks again for your consideration.
Alan Nagel
