Roundabout on Highways 7 & 25 opens Monday

The official detour at the east end of the Highway 7 construction project is expected to move from Highway 41 to Highway 25 late today, Monday, Sept. 22, according to MnDOT representative Kelly Brunkhorst.

Earlier, MnDOT had hoped to open the roundabout at Highway 25 and move the detour by Sept. 19, but that did not prove feasible. From Highway 7, the detour will follow Highway 25 to Highway 5. The rest of the detour will remain unchanged.

Last week, crews were paving the roundabout at Highway 25 and the passing lanes between Carver County Road 10 and Highway 25.

When paving is complete, sign installation, turf establishment, shoulder construction, and striping will be completed. Crews were also milling the pavement west of Highway 25 and finishing construction of passing lanes between Carver County Road 21 and Tacoma Avenue last week. When the Highway 25 roundabout and the passing lanes to the east are complete, contractor Knife River will cover the grading areas with a base layer of asphalt. MnDOT representative Kelly Brunkhorst will present updates about the Highway 7 project and answer questions during weekly meetings every Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Hollywood Ranch House at the intersection of Highway 7 and Carver County Road 33 north of New Germany.
