WINSTED, MN – A single vehicle rollover just south of Winsted on McLeod County Road 9 sent a Montrose man to the hospital in the early morning hours Friday.
Daniel David Thaemert, 27 of Montrose, was transported to Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia after an accident at 1:21 a.m., according to the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office.

Thaemert was driving southbound on McLeod County Road 9, south of 212th street, when his 2003 Ford Expedition entered the east ditch, struck a cement culvert, and continued south, rolling several times before coming to rest on its wheels.

Thaemert was not wearing a seatbelt.  The McLeod County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene.  Since the accident took place in the dark, the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter (airwing unit) was called to the area to assist with an infrared search, looking for possible additional victims.  None were found.

The Expedition received over $1,000 in damage.

Also assisting at the scene were the Lester Prairie Police Department, Winsted Police Department, and the Winsted Fire Department.
