lpLESTER PRAIRIE, MN – A proposed kindergarten schedule change raised concerns from the audience during Tuesday’s Lester Prairie School Board meeting.

Currently, kindergarten in Lester Prairie is half-days, five days per week. Among the changes proposed to offset the 27 percent state revenue shift, High School Principal/Superintendent Mike McNulty outlined a scenario that involves changing the schedule to full-day kindergarten every other day.

McNulty said this would save $13,000 in mid-day busing costs alone, without eliminating any programs.

Audience members expressed a variety of concerns regarding the impact of the proposed change.

The board scheduled a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 30 in the school media center to consider the proposed changes.
