HOWARD LAKE – Preston Rocheleau was dominant from the start on the mound as the Pioneers cruised to a 7-0 win on the road over Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. Rocheleau threw a one-hit shutout, while striking out 12 Lakers in the win.

Senior Brad Bickmann had the lone hit for the Lakers in the loss. Bickmann’s hit came with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, and it was the only baserunner of the game for the Lakers.

Despite the loss, the Lakers got a nice performance on the mound from sophomore Trevin Olund. Olund went five innings, allowing seven runs off of seven hits. A wild pitch by Olund gave the Pioneers their first two runs, but after that Olund was strong on the mound.

The Pioneers also won game two of the doubleheader by a score of 13-7.

The Lakers are back in action Friday, April 21 when they travel to Litchfield to take on the Dragons and look to pick up their first win of the season.

LITCHFIELD – A rough sixth inning cost the Royals from picking up their second consecutive win. After leading the entire game, the Royals watched their lead disappear as the Dragons batted around, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to comeback and win.

Jadrien Keavy was tagged with the loss on the mound despite throwing some strong innings early. He gave up six earned runs off of eight hits. At the plate, the Royals were led by Dan Heinsch who went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nic Nolan, Jack Zellmann, Keavy each had an RBI as well in the loss.

ANDOVER – Taylor Trettin’s dominating pitching performance led the Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity Bulldogs to a 12-0 bounce back win in five innings over Legacy Christian.  Trettin threw five scoreless frames, allowing just two hits while striking out seven. In her last 12 innings, Trettin has allowed just one run off of four hits.

Senior Hope Feltmann broke out of her slump in a big way. She went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the win, including belting her second home run of the season. Eighth-grader Taylor Ebert continued to impress. She finished with two hits, and drove in four runs for the Bulldogs in the blowout win.

The Bulldogs return to action Monday, April 24 when they take to the road against PACT Charter.

MN RIVER CONFERENCE

Mayer Lutheran 17, St. Clair 4

ST. CLAIR – The Mayer Lutheran softball team bounced back with a 17-4 win over St. Clair in five innings. The Crusaders relied on their top of the lineup as Taylor Gabbert, Mya Chmielewski, and Martina Saulsbury combined for eight hits and drove in eight runs to give the Crusaders the win.

Anna Asmus picked up the mound on the rubber. She threw five innings, allowing four earned runs off of eight hits. The Crusaders are back in action Friday as they host Heritage Christian.

PIERZ – Cody Dickhausen’s round of 48 led the Lakers to a sixth place finish at the Central MN Conference meet at Pierz Golf Course. The Lakers finished with a team score of 206.
