LESTER PRAIRIE – The Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity boys basketball team just didn’t have enough in the tank. Falling behind early, the Bulldogs were forced to rally from the get-go. With the lead just three points at the half, the Bulldogs found themselves both back in it after a big run brought them close again.
In the second half, the Sting built another big lead, this time and 18-point lead with less than eight minutes to go. The Bulldogs once again tried to get back in it. They cut deficiti to 11 points, but the Sting were able to hold on and run out the clock for the win.
Senior Rees Schuette led the way for the Bulldogs with 24 points and eight rebounds. Michael Ziermann added 17 points, while Adam Heigl was also in double figures with 10 points.
The Bulldogs are back in action Friday, Feb. 10 at St. Croix Prep.

MAPLE LAKE – In a non conference matchup, the Watertown-Mayer Royals wasted no time in getting ahead in their 68-44 win over the Maple Lake Irish. The Royals used a balanced attack and a big first half to pick up the win.
Ben Theisen and Riley Alger led the way with 15 points each while Ethan McCleary added 12 points.
The Royals are back in action Friday, Feb. 10 when they host Annandale in a big Wright County Conference and Section 5AA matchup. The Royals defeated the Cardinals 60-58 back on January 12.

OLIVIA – Kobey Woolhouse was once again unstoppable as he dropped 32 points in Mayer Lutheran’s 94-89 win in overtime over BOLD. The Crusaders trailed by 10 at the half, but rallied in the second to force overtime.
The win is a big one for the Crusaders when it comes to section seedings. The Crusaders and the Warriors are both in Section 2A, a section that seems to be open for the taking.
The Crusaders are back in action Friday, Feb, 10 at Belle Plaine.

HOWARD LAKE – The Dragons came away with 52-27 win on the road Tuesday night. The Dragons held the Lakers to just 13 first-half points as the got out ahead early and often.
Freshman CJ Decker led the way with 11 points. Janna Hatrick added six points.
The Lakers are back in action Friday, Feb. 10 when they host Holdingford in a Central MN Conference matchup.
