WATERTOWN – When you matchup against the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panthers, you better be ready to bring it for four quarters. The Watertown-Mayer football team did just that in the first quarter, but in the rest of the way, the Panthers were just too much for the Royals as they came out with a 27-14 victory Friday night.
After both offenses struggled to get going, the Panthers finally found the endzone for the first time on a 1-yard run from Adrian Trevino. Just when it looked as if the Panthers were about to pull away, Kendall Nowlan had the answer.
Nowlan took the ensuing kickoff 90-yards and all the way to the house to bring the Royals within three again.
Following the kick return, it was all G-SL from there as they tired the Royals out on defense with their stout running game.
