Prairie Arts Council didn’t let rain ruin its chalk art day

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – Prairie Arts Council wasn’t going to let a little rain get in the way of its first sidewalk chalk event.

Originally scheduled for Aug. 21, the event was moved to Aug. 22 due to rain.

Following a suggestion and a chalk donation from Lester Prairie resident and business owner Judy Angvall, the Prairie Arts Council organized the sidewalk chalk event.

The idea was that adults and children in the community would gather and decorate the sidewalks with art drawn with chalk.

“When we told community members about the idea, they seemed favorable; so we thought, ‘why not,’” Prairie Arts Council member Jane Holasek stated.
