Pirate picture book event in Winsted Saturday

WINSTED, MN – About five years ago, Thomas Maresh was a student in Emily Lynch Victory’s art class at Holy Trinity High School in Winsted.

Now, they’re part of the team that created “The Irate Pirate,” a picture book about a young pirate who doesn’t want to be a pirate at all.

Victory is the book’s illustrator, and Maresh did the typography and website (theiratepirate.com).

“The Irate Pirate” was written by James Edward Best of Wayzata. In all his stories, Best aims to teach life lessons in a way that’s entertaining and “never preachy.”

“Everybody likes to learn, but we don’t really like to be taught,” Best commented.
