WRIGHT COUNTY, MN — A St. Cloud man was killed attempting to cross I-94 in Wright County Oct. 29.
Authorities are trying to piece together clues as to why Joseph Blitvich, 49, of St. Cloud was attempting to walk across I-94 in Wright County, when he was struck by two vehicles, thereby being killed Oct. 29.
According to the accident report filed by the State Patrol, Blitvich “walked into westbound traffic and then was struck by vehicle one and vehicle two.”
The first vehicle, a 1999 Kenworth, was being driven by a Canadian citizen, Ken Turton, 59, of Regina, Canada. He stopped and made statements to investigative authorities. A second vehicle, a mini van, also struck the pedestrian, but left the scene. It is possible that the driver didn’t know he or she struck someone, reported WCCO during its Friday newscast.
Investigative authorities included the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Cloud Police Department.
