DARWIN, MN – Barbara Lies of Darwin reported Sept. 24 to Meeker County deputies that she was being harassed by scammers.
Lies of 117 2nd St. N, Darwin, received multiple calls from scammers in Canada claiming her grandson needed her to send him $2,900. The scammers claimed her grandson was fishing, and was arrested for poaching, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

DASSEL, MN – A burglar damaged a door Sept. 25 trying to break in to a mini-storage building in Dassel.
The door was scratched and dented near the locks, as if the burglar used a pry bar on it, outside the mini-storage business owned by Sharel Lee on Highway 15. The burglar didn’t get inside, despite the criminal damage to property, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s office.
DARWIN, MN – Meeker County deputies received a report of suspicious activity at an attorney’s home at 215th Street, Darwin.
Someone had left white powder and pills in the driveway of the home on the south side of Lake Washington. The substances turned out to be harmless.
The attorney was involved in evictions and some legal proceedings that antagonize people. Deputies suspect someone was trying to get the attorney in trouble with the law, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
DASSEL, MN – Shay Ellen Cates of Dassel owned a vehicle that was involved in a collision Sept. 26 on US Highway 12 and 738th Avenue, Dassel.
Cates owned a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am, which collided with a 2006 Ford Escort, owned by Lorraine and James Stoll of Chaska. Both the Minnesota State Patrol and Meeker County deputies responded to the accident, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
DASSEL, MN – Ashley Feldick’s green Volkswagon was damaged by a hit-and-run-vehicle Sept. 23 in a Dassel parking lot.
Feldick’s vehicle was in the parking lot of the apartment building at 104 3rd St. N., Dassel, when it was damaged on the back fender above the tire, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

DASSEL, MN – Covenant Women’s Ministeries will meet Saturday, Oct. 4 at 8:30 a.m. at the Dassel Covenant Church. Pat Kusler of Dassel, will share the mission of Habitat for Humanity and ways for the community to become involved. Everyone is welcome.
DASSEL, MN – The Dassel Area Historical Society will host a New England pot roast dinner Thursday, Oct. 2 serving 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church, Dassel.
Menu includes roast beef, potatoes, vegetables, cole slaw, homemade bread, and dessert.
Tickets are $7.50 adults and $4 children age 3 to 11.

COKATO, MN – The Viewfinders Camera Club will meet, with a 25th year celebration, Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cokato Centennial Room. Program will be Ruth Ann Licht, Brugge Belgium International Photo Exhibit.
