“When left undisturbed, roadsides hold tremendous potential for pheasants and numerous other wildlife species and important insects including pollinators,” said Carmelita Nelson, DNR Roadsides for Wildlife program coordinator. “In addition, they can provide important water quality and erosion control benefits. DARWIN, MN – The body of a person that is believed to be Al Stone, 68, of Darwin was found in a burning pickup truck located south of Darwin, Nov. 23.
However, the fire was so intense that it will be some time before official DNA results can come back to confirm it, Meeker County Sheriff Mike Hirman said. “Friends and family are pretty sure it was him,” he said. DASSEL-COKATO, MN – Dassel and Cokato each will again have a Tree of Love lit with individual lights sponsored in memory of family and love ones benefiting the Litchfield Area Hospice.
Lights will be turned on before Monday, Dec. 1.

DARWIN, MN – The remains of an unidentified person were found Nov. 23 within the cab of a pickup truck south of Darwin.
A passing motorist called the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office reporting a vehicle fire at the Alvin and Diane Stone residence, along Meeker County State Aid Highway 14, south of Darwin in Ellsworth Township. Sheriff’s deputies and the Dassel Fire Department responded.
Firefighters extinguished the fire.
The coroner’s office and State Fire Marshal were called. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and the victim has not been positively identified at this time.
According to KSTP, Meeker County Sheriff Mike Hirman said the body was taken to Anoka County for an autopsy.
