Meeker County deputies received a report July 26 of a telemarketer harassing and demanding credit card information from persons living at a residence on 730th Avenue in Dassel.
The victims didn’t give the telemarketer any information, but the telemarketer continued to call them. Sheriff’s deputies investigated, and found the calls came from an untraceable cell phone, according to Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

The City of Darwin reported graffiti and criminal damage July 24 to the park on North First Street, Darwin. Sand was dumped in the toilets in the restrooms, and writing was on the picnic tables, probably done by juveniles, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
A gas can was stolen from Jesse Finstrom of Darwin at her residence on West William Street, according to a July 26 theft report from the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
During the night of July 23, William Rorah heard strange noises at his residence at CJ Moe Boulevard West in Dassel.
The next morning he found his landscaping rocks had been thrown on his roof, and the plants and gardens around his residence were trampled. Rorah filed a report of criminal damage to property with the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
Two horses were struck by a Jeep and killed July 24 on Highway 12, west of Darwin.
The white and spotted horses were among five or six pintos loose on the highway near Meeker County State Aid Highway 9. The owner, Derrick Linz of Darwin, had been notified about the horses being loose on the road.
When deputies arrived at the scene, Jeffrey Waldron of Darwin, reported that while he was driving in his 1993 Jeep west on the highway, he struck two of the horses. The front end of the Jeep was damaged, but he was uninjured, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
Dennis Bergquist, humanitarian agriculturalist from Hutchinson and members of a mission team will share the team’s experiences in Guatemala during a recent trip Sunday, Aug. 3, 6:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Dassel.
Refreshments will be served following the program.
