Dassel might get a supper club that serves wine

The Dassel City Council listened to a proposal last Monday from Larry Oberg that a steak and seafood supper club, serving wine with dinner, and including a health bar, is planned for Dassel. The supper club does not have a location yet. The developer doesn’t want the restaurant to be larger than 5,000 square feet so he doesn’t have to install a sprinkler system, Oberg said.
Also, the restaurant won’t open until 4 p.m. It won’t compete with existing restaurants serving breakfast, he said.

Threat made at Dassel Township meeting

Participants at the annual Dassel Township meeting Tuesday were threatened that there were “guns at the meeting,” according to Meeker County Sheriff Mike Hirman.
While the Dassel Township Board of Supervisors was meeting at the Universal Laboratories building in Dassel, the wife of Supervisor Erhard Woetzel received a phone call at home about 8:40 p.m. for him.
An adult male voice asked for Woetzel. When the caller was told Woetzel was at the meeting, the caller responded to the effect, “Oh no! He should have stayed home, because there will be guns at the meeting,” according to Hirman.
Meeker County deputies responded to the building at 901 1st St. N., and a deputy was posted at the meeting. Deputies also searched the building and grounds, and another deputy was posted outside the building.
The meeting continued without  incident.
The matter is being actively investigated by the sheriff’s office. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at (320) 693-5400, or toll free at (866) 333-3366, the TIP line at (320) 693-5411, or at the county’s web site, www.co.meeker.mn.us, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
