Bridge is small surprise in pending Hwy. 7 road work

bridgeweb.jpgMassive road work plans for Highway 7 are set to begin in April, with officials attending an informational meeting Tuesday about the subject. The work is going according to plan with a similar detour in place, with the exception that state officials were surprised to be the proud new owners of a box culvert bridge along the route (see at left). Not the first time DC went to state

Fishing contest set for Sunday

A fishing contest on Brooks Lake, just west of Cokato, is taking place Sunday, Feb. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m.  It is sponsored by the Rainbow Sportsmen’s Club.  Lunch will be available, and both merchandise and cash prizes will be given away.   For more information, call (612) 670-1916.

Cokato Museum featured on WCCO

The Akerlund Studio and the museum’s display of recently scanned glass plate negatives were featured on a segment of WCCO-TV’s “Finding Minnesota” series. The segment  and video are available on WCCO’s web site (click here).

Concordia, DC Band to play

bandweb.jpgThe Dassel-Cokato High School Symphonic Band is busy preparing for the Saturday, Feb. 9 performance with the Concordia College Band. The DC band will be performing several songs to open the concert and then, for the finale, a joint song with the Concordia College Band. The college band consists of 64 student musicians, each studying privately with Concordia’s music faculty. It is directed by Dr. Scott A Jones. DC even has one of its own former students, Brad Moore, performing in the college band. Moore is a 2004 DC graduate from Dassel. Performance is at 7:30 p.m. at the PAC. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
