Waverly Fire and Rescue along with the Howard Lake Ambulance responded to a one vehicle crash in which an Annandale woman was found dead on the scene. The accident involving Terrina Lynn Stark, 20, of Annandale, occurred before 8 p.m. July 4 on County Road 8 near 53rd Street, Southwest in Marysville Township, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s office. Stark, driving a 1993 Nissan Maxima, was headed northbound when the vehicle left the roadway and into the southbound ditch striking a tree and rolled over. Stark was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected, according to the release. Stark was the sole occupant in the vehicle and the incident remains under investigation.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Lester Prairie is sponsoring an outdoor polka worship service featuring the “Polka Sons of Praise” Sunday, July 13, 9 a.m. at the Lester Prairie City Park (by the pool).
Immediately following, the church’s carpet committee is hosting a fundraising breakfast at the Lester Prairie park shelter.
Menu includes scrambled eggs, sausages, applesauce, pancakes, toast, rolls, coffee cake, orange juice, milk and coffee.
Tickets are adults: $6, children ages 5-12 $4, and children under 5: free. Matching funds from Thrivent. In case of inclement weather, both will be at the church.
Winsted Wildcats Fan Appreciation Night is Sunday, July 13 versus the Watertown Red Devils beginning at 1 p.m. There will be prize drawings throughout the game. A potluck picnic at Mill Reserve Park will follow the game.
New Germany city office closed
Due to the holiday and a training seminar, New Germany city offices will be closed through Friday, July 11. Phone messages will be checked periodically.
The second annual Wright in Bloom garden tour is set for Saturday, July 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tour features six private gardens in Howard Lake and Waverly. Tickets for the self-guided tour are available only at Natural Balance Floral, Waverly from 11 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $10 each and include tour details and a map to the gardens. Proceeds will benefit the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Schools ag education and beatification projects.
Children’s activities, Twins youth clinic, community church service, and live music are among the events planned for the second annual Mayer City Celebration Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13.
The community church service is Sunday at 10 a.m. outside the community center.
Mayer Blazers host New Germany for Beef Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lutheran High School.
A new event has been added to the summer fun at Waverly Daze Friday, Saturday, Sunday, July 11, 12, and 13.
A three-point basketball shoot-out will be Saturday, July 12 at Legion Park. There is a $5 entry fee with two categories: boys and girls 16 and up or age 15 and down.
The event is sponsored by the Waverly Lions, C & C Embroidery, and Creations Salon.
At Winsted’s city council meeting July 1, City Clerk-Treasurer Deb Boelter told the council the filing date for mayor and two council member positions begins Tuesday, Aug. 26 and will run through Thursday, Sept. 11 until 5 p.m.
Anyone interested in serving as an election judge for the primary, Tuesday Sept. 9, or the general election, Tuesday, Nov. 4, should contact city staff. The shifts are from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to closing. The wage is $8 per hour and meals are provided. Election judge training will be held at the McLeod County Auditor’s office beginning Monday, Aug. 18.
Summer fun is planned at Waverly Daze Friday, Saturday, Sunday, July 11, 12, and 13.
Events include: Friday family night with free events and fireworks by the lake; tractor pull at 2 p.m. Saturday, and a parade Sunday at 1 p.m. Live music is planned for each day.
A fishing contest is planned for July 12 with registration at 7 a.m.
