ST. PETER – Despite outshooting the Eagles 34-19, the Dragons could only push one puck past New Ulm goaltender Jack Raymond in a 2-1 loss Saturday in the Section 3A semifinals.
Blake Johnson scored an unassisted goal at 2:47 of the first period, and for a time it looked like the Dragons would dominate, as they outshot New Ulm 14-2 in the first frame.
But Blake Tauer scored with 40 seconds left in the second period to tie the score, and Kyle Tauer scored 1:08 into the third to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
The Dragons poured it on late, outshooting NU 11-3 in the third, but could not find the twine.
Darby Halonen stopped 17-of-19 shots in net for LDC.
