Mayer council chooses not to renew city administrator’s contract

MAYER, MN – Mayer City Council, following little discussion, chose not to renew City Administrator Luayn Ruch-Hammond’s contract during the Feb. 27 council meeting. The council was split 3-2, with Mayor Mike Dodge and council members Erick Boder and Tice Stieve-McPadden voting against renewing the contract, and council members Nikki McNeilly and Elizabeth Butterfield in favor.

Dodge stated he wants to see the city move in a new direction.

As a result of the action, Ruch-Hammond’s last day will be May 9, which is when her current contract expires.

The council may determine its next steps during a personnel committee meeting March 20, or possibly sooner.
