Man flees in stolen car after woman assaulted in Watertown Township

WATERTOWN TOWNSHIP, MN – Oct. 29 at approximately 11:09 p.m., the Carver County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of a stabbing which had just occurred at a residence in Watertown Township, according to a release from Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson.

Deputies arrived and discovered an adult male had stabbed an adult female. The deputies further determined the adult male (identified as Paul Youngstedt, age 50) had fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. The female stabbing victim (age 44) was transported by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) for treatment of her injuries.

Youngstedt was later located at a residence in Mound and taken into custody. He is being
held at the Carver County Jail pending charges by the Carver County Attorney’s Office. The
stolen vehicle was recovered at the Mound residence and was towed to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mayer Fire Department, Ridgeview
Ambulance, Hennepin County Dispatch, Orono Police Department, and the Lake Minnetonka
SWAT.

This matter remains under investigation.
