Man arrested after allegedly firing shotgun at another in New Germany


NEW GERMANY, MN – Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson issued a press release today, July 29, regarding an incident involving a gunshot in New Germany. At approximately 8:47 p.m. July 27, sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a gunshot occurring in a residence on the 300 block of Park Street East in New Germany.

According to the release, the victim (who reported the incident), a 30-year-old male from Dassel, told deputies he had been at the house drinking with friends when an adult male used a 12 gauge shotgun to fire a single round at him, missing him and putting a hole in the adjacent wall. The victim was not injured.

The suspect, a 51-year-old male from New Germany, admitted he fired the shotgun at the victim, according to the release. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Carver County Jail where he awaits formal charges. The name of the suspect has not yet been released.

Sheriff’s deputies interviewed the witnesses and processed the crime scene for physical evidence. They will continue to gather evidence and investigate this incident.
