LoGators shut out Kernels, 12-0

COKATO – The visiting Champlin Park LoGators, one of the top teams in Class B, scored a 12-0 shutout victory over the Kernels Wednesday.

The Kernels were outhit 16-5. Sanders Asplin had two of Cokato’s five hits, including a double. Tom Halonen, Jackson Martin, and Chad Koivisto also picked up hits.

The LoGators jumped on Kernels starter Steve Schmitt for six runs (two earned) in the second inning, and were off an running.

Schmitt gave up 10 runs (five earned) on 13 hits and one walk, while striking out six through five innings.

Jaeger Ohm gave up two runs in one inning, and Grayson Londerville had one scoreless inning.

Bryce Nelson had three hits and three RBI for Champlin Park, while Sam Riola had three hits and three runs scored.

Winning pitcher Jon Koenig threw four innings, and gave up no runs on four hits and one walk, while striking out six.
