Lester Prairie woman involved in fatal wrong-way crash on 169

BROOKLYN PARK – A Lester Prairie woman was involved in a fatal two-vehicle accident at approximately 1:17 a.m. Wednesday near Brooklyn Park, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Yana Madeline Olson, 28, of Lester Prairie was driving a Nissan Altima traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 169 near County Road 81, when it collided with a Chevrolet Impala which was traveling north.
Ahmud Quadir Carrington, 22, of Minneapolis was the driver of the Impala. Ashley Mae Elizabeth Behrendt, 22, of Rush City; Valentino Jerome Jackson, 23, of Minneapolis; and Brooklyn Diane Simonitch, 21, of St Paul were passengers in the Impala.
Olson, Behrendt, Jackson, and Simonitch were transported to North Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Carrington suffered injuries that would eventually claim his life, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.  The Minnesota State Patrol indicated alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
The wreckage from the crash closed northbound 169 for several hours as the crash was reconstructed and cleaned up.
Allina and North Ambulance, Brooklyn Park Fire Department and Police Department, Maple Grove Fire Department and Police Department, Osseo Police Department, and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
