Lester Prairie to begin mosquito spraying Friday, July 9

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – The Lester Prairie City Council conducted a special meeting last night to discuss mosquitoes. As a result of that meeting, mosquito spraying will begin tonight, Thursday, July 8 between 9 and 10 p.m. UPDATE: The first spray application has been postponed until Friday, July 9 between 9 and 10 p.m.
The next application will take place Thursday, July 15. After that, spraying will be done every other Thursday between 9 and 10 p.m. including Jul 29, Aug. 12 and Aug. 26. If the weather is too windy or if it is raining, the schedule may be adjusted.
The council approved two applications of briquettes to stormwater ponds at a cost of $150 per application.
The council also approved six applications that will involve spraying along all city streets and the city parks.
By starting immediately, the council was able to schedule two spraying applications prior to the Prairie Days celebration, Friday and Saturday July 16 and 17.
