Friday, March 22, 2013 is the end of the third quarter. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 on Friday.

School will be dismissed at 11:30 on Wed., March 27 at 11:30. There will not be school on Thursday, March 28, Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1 due to our Easter Break.

Softball practice for Juniors and Seniors will be from 4:30 to 6:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 6:30 in the Morning on Wednesday this will take place until we are able to go outside.

The sports shuttle will run on the following schedule:

LP-HT 3:05/HT-LP 3:20

LP-HT 5:30/HT-LP 5:45

Band students: Practice charts are due TODAY. Drop them off in the pink box in the band room, or in Mrs. Helland’s box in the office.

Firearms Training Safety will be held from April 2nd to May 2nd. Classes will be on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 pm at the Lester Prairie Sportsman Club. For more information contact Doug Minnick at 320-224-5942.

Boys’ Basketball sub-section champions t-shirts: There are still some available. See Kelli Machemehl if you would like one. They are $10.

JR & SR PROM AND AFTER PROM PARTY REGISTRATION: Tuesday March 26 and Wednesday March 27 from 7:40-8:10 A.M. in the LPHS lobby.  Please bring completed Prom and After prom party registration forms and separate payments (and pictures if you are unable to email them to Troy.)

If you will not be able to register on these dates, forms and payments can be turned in at the office in an envelope labeled PROM.

The week of March 11, forms were mailed to Juniors and Seniors’ home addresses on file with the school.  If you did not receive yours or if you have questions, contact Jen Thiry 612-703-9762 (Prom is Sat., April 27)

7th Annual School Carnival Wednesday March 27, 5:00 – 7:30 pm. The Carnival is one of the school’s biggest fund raisers and it can’t happen without you! Thank you to those who have volunteered, but we are still in need of 30-40 volunteers for the following shifts:

4:00-5:00-setup

5:00-6:30-first game shift

6:30-8:00- 2nd game shift/cleanup

7:30-8:15- cleanup

We are in need of prizes for the prize walk for the carnival, you can drop them off in the office. Thank You!

Anyone needing the classroom portion of Driver’s Education pick up a registration sheet by Mr. Bjork’s door. The orange sheet is for the June class and the blue sheet is for the August class.  You must pick either the June class or the August class and attend all 10 sessions for that class.  You must be 14 years of age as of the 1st day of the class you pick.  See Mr. Bjork if you have questions.

Class of 2013 Students and Parents:

We will have a parent and student meeting (for all seniors going on the class trip) on Tuesday, April 2 at 6:30 pm in Ms. Olson’s room (147). You must attend this meeting with a parent or set up an individual meeting with Ms. Olson at 7:30 am or 3 pm on Wednesday, April 3. If you do not attend a meeting, you will not be going on the class trip. We will be signing release and permission forms, medical forms, etc. and discussing rules/regulations for flying American Airlines and the behavior expectations. If you have questions or concerns, please see Ms. Olson.

Seniors: Your research paper MUST be completed and handed in before you go on the class trip.

The weight room will be open after school on Monday and Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30.

The LP Foundation for Education is looking for wicker baskets or similar containers to use for packaging up Bulldog Bash auction items.  If you’ve got any that you would be willing to donate, please get them to Kelli Machemehl.  Thanks so much.

Reminder: all track, softball and baseball players need to turn in forms and payment to the office before you will be able to practice.

WANTED:  The LP After Prom Party Committee is looking for someone who is handy with woodworking to make some “western themed” small building/obstacles to be placed on our mini-golf game sections.  If you are that person or if you know of someone, please contact Kelli Machemehl at 395-2844 or Mindy Jeurissen at 952-826-9175.  Thank you!

SUMMER YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL Registration is now underway. All Lester Prairie elementary students should have received a registration form sent home with them. Junior and Senior high students can pick up registration forms in the office. You may turn in your completed forms to the school office. DEADLINE TO REGISTER is March 22. Any questions, can be directed to Jeff Engen 395-9839.

The last days of Release will be Tuesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 25.

The school gym will be open from 7:30 am to 8:00 am on a trial basis for students in grades 6-12 wanting to shoot baskets, bump volleyballs, or run. Street shoes will NOT be allowed. Also, the stage is off limits. The supervisor will be a volunteer so please be respectful.

Needed: Parent/adult volunteers to supervise in the school gym from 7:25 to 8:00 am. You can sign up for one day or as many as you’d like. We would like this facility to be available during he school year but need volunteers to supervise. If you have 30 minutes in the morning, please consider signing up! The sign up calendar will be in the school office. Call MerriLea Kyllo at 320-395-2779 or talk to Jeremy Schmidt at 320-395-2521 if you have questions.

Students will not be allowed in the hallways in the morning until the first bus arrives which is about 7:50 a.m. You may leave the library at 7:50 a.m. Also, no food or drink will be allowed in the hallway in the morning before school. Please eat or drink in the cafeteria.

We will have homework help in the morning from 7:00-8:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Students may come to the Media Center on these mornings for help. We will still have homework help from 3-4 on Monday-Thursday after school.

Lester Prairie Foundation for Education’s BULLDOG BASH tickets are now available!  They are available in the school office and from any Foundation Board Member.  The date is Saturday, April 6, 2013.  Get your tickets now and enjoy and a great evening out with your family and friends!
